Subject: newbie in hive dev - process help

Hi hive dev Gurus,

I am a newbie to hive dev, but using hive for about 2 years.

I created a UDF to convert map to string, since I wanted make only the key part lower or upper to convert old data in map field, because the keys could be in different cases.  I created this about a year ago.

I would like to add it to the hive code, so I do not have to customize the code or add udf temporarily.  Also it could be a useful udf to have.

I got the steps to contribute from this https://cwiki.apache.org/Hive/howtocontribute.html

Anything else needed?  Is this email enough or I have open a jira?

Thanks,
Chalcy
