I am not going this year but I hope you all have fun! And, if you can make it easier for remote attendees (can't believe I'd ever say this living the bay area!:-)), that'd be appreciated. On Mon, Mar 3, 2014 at 11:50 AM, Jay Vyas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
OKay folks : here is myroposal for the bigtop meetup @apachecon:
Part 1: Get to know each other as bigtop users
I mostly know you folks as bigtop hackers. But we all have day jobs. Lets touch base and talk about how we use the damnthing :) I see each one of us gives a lightning talk:
- How they use bigtop - Products or initiatives which they use bigtop for - What they want to see for the future of bigtop - There favorite current JIRAs
Part 2: How bigtop is evolving and control is converging
In my opinion, the most interesting emerging thing in bigtop is the new control structure that is gradle powered . So Id like to go through some of that code, and whiteboard how the whole stack will be looking inthe near future, so we all have an understanding of the new emerging bigtop architecture. If we can do 2 sessions - that'd be great! First session could be more like "meet the bigtop" as you said; and then for everyone who wants to sit around and work on the stuff. I am not sure what's going on with the reservations and all: lemme know if I can help with it. Let's try to finalize something say over the next week so we have time to make a noise about it;)
On a more serious note, I like the idea of a meet-and-greet session and a more intensive working session. The schedules are much more relaxed Thursday and Friday - is much of the community going to be sticking around for those 2 days? I'm giving a tutorial on Thursday and I'll stay until Friday if there's a Bigtop event that day, but that would of course be rather useless if everyone's going home after Wednesday.
