[VOTE] Chukwa 0.5.0 Release Candidate 1Eric Yang 2012-01-06, 00:55
Hi all,
IPMC had additional input about Chukwa license.txt and notice.txt. The license files are updated, and restarting the voting process for release candidate 1. With Chris's recommendation that we should only submit source tarball for voting to reduce the work on license issues on binary dependencies. The source tarball is available at: http://people.apache.org/~eyang/chukwa-0.5.0-rc1/ Documents are available at: http://people.apache.org/~eyang/chukwa-0.5.0-docs/ Please download, evaluate, and vote on this list. Thanks regards, Eric

Signature matches; would you mind uploading an MD5, also?
The LICENSE and NOTICE changes look good to me. If that's the only change from RC0, I think it's reasonable to start a [VOTE] thread including both general@incubator and chukwa-dev@, and run them concurrently. The CDDL license in lib (jersey-bundle-LICENSE) is included in the top-level LICENSE labeled as jsr311-api? All the unit tests passed, also. Ran RAT as part of the verify target, so that looks great. +1 -C On Thu, Jan 5, 2012 at 4:55 PM, Eric Yang <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi all, > > IPMC had additional input about Chukwa license.txt and notice.txt. > The license files are updated, and restarting the voting process for > release candidate 1. files are not in the svn tree. I respin the source tarball for rc2. Re: [VOTE] Chukwa 0.5.0 Release Candidate 3Eric Yang 2012-01-14, 18:17
This is a reminder to vote Chukwa 0.5.0 release candidate 3. We are
still missing 2 IPMC votes to close this vote. If someone could take a look, it would be greatly appreciated. regards, Eric On Wed, Jan 11, 2012 at 12:55 PM, Chris Douglas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > +1 (binding) > > Checksum and signature match, verifications from previous RCs hold b/c > only NOTICE and LICENSE have changed. -C > > On Mon, Jan 9, 2012 at 10:09 PM, Eric Yang <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> Hi all, >> >> Chukwa 0.5.0 is ready for release. The voting period is now closed. Thanks to everyone who took the time
to review the release. Result Summary for this List: +1 [1] 0 [1] -1 [0] With the one IPMC member vote from mentors on the dev list and two +1 from general@incubator, the vote succeeds. I'm very worried that, sans mentors, this PPMC can't muster three votes for a candidate. I think it might be premature to release and is a very long way from graduation. Please don't summarize simply IPMC binding votes, but cover all categories, most especially chukwa-dev community votes. Repost with the correct totals, because we [Incubator PMC] need that to gauge the health of the project.

Now you have me worried. This podling has 4 mentors listed. Only 1 voted on the release. You indicated you were too busy to look at it and the other two didn't participate at all. Although the tally below is obviously incorrect and needed to be corrected, your response leads me to believe you weren't monitoring the voting on chuckwa-dev. My worry isn't about the PPMC or committers but about whether this podling has sufficient mentors. Is everything being left to Chris?
Mind you, I don't follow chuckwa-dev so perhaps my perception is incorrect, but a podling should normally be able to get 3 IPMC votes just from its mentors. Re: [VOTE] Chukwa 0.5.0 Release Candidate 3Chris Douglas 2012-01-26, 12:59
One of the mentors recently resigned: http://s.apache.org/2Ss
Chukwa has been coming out of a long, quasi-dormancy due to a complicated set of upstream dependencies that weren't releasing the features it required. It's discussed in the December report: http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/December2011 Now that it's unblocked, there will be more to monitor, we hope. I think the other mentors' absence is a hiccup, though I'll ping Bernd. If there's another IPMC member with spare cycles, it'd be helpful to have another mentor to replace Owen. -C On Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 3:57 AM, Ralph Goers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Now you have me worried. My worry isn't about the PPMC or committers but about whether this podling has sufficient mentors. Is everything being left to Chris? Now, three, so yes it would be good to bring on another if someone has some free cycles. But there isn't much to be worried about here, I had simply corrected Eric's post, and for the benefit of everyone on general@, pointed out what the IPMC is sensitive to so that future release tallies from any podling will be more informative. > Mind you, I don't follow chuckwa-dev so perhaps my perception is incorrect, but a podling should normally be able to get 3 IPMC votes just from its mentors. We disagree; that entirely depends on the mentor's personal schedules. |
