Hi,
If you use Eclipse to work on HBase, you can easily see the long lines in
your code by turning on 'Show print margin' option in Preferences ->
General -> Editors -> Text Editors and specifying 100 as Print margin
column.

Since I have been burned a lot by this, I also committed
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-7427 for checking the line
lengths from the pre-commit build.
