That's probably off-topic by now but... Solr just stores the
configuration in ZooKeeper. This configuration includes a list of nodes
and what nodes participate in which index ("collection"). It then
replicates the index ("data") between nodes itself.

I'm not sure what your requirements are regarding "synchronization of
directories". If it's one-way only you could use rsync on Linux. If it's
master-master then you could store the sync state in ZooKeeper.
