Is anyone interested in data retention policies?
David Medinets 2012-03-22, 11:47
Last night, at our accumulo meetup, someone brought up the idea of data retention. One response suggested using the timestamp field to handle data retention but I think the topic is more complex. Does anyone have specific experience with data retention policies?

There is a ColumnAgeOffFilter that lets you specify a time-to-live per column. This could be used to satisfy a more complex policy for aging data off at different rates, assuming a distinguishing characteristic were stored in the column.

If I wanted to download a relatively stable version of Accumulo 1.4 Should I use the just use the branch 1.4 or one of the tags like 1.4.0rc5
Thanks in advance,
Sandy

For now, the tags are copies of the branch. But once we have a release, the branch will then be slightly more bleeding edge than the tag. So I would say, use the tag if you want 1.4 but a bit more stability.
