Olga Natkovich 2010-10-11, 22:59
Pig Developers!
We would like to invite you to our 3rd meeting. We propose to have this meeting on November 4th at 4 pm at Yahoo! Campus in Sunnyvale. We also plan to make accommodations for developers who are remote if there is interest. Please, let us know if you are planning to attend by 10/22.
Also, we need to decide on the agenda. Please, send your proposals on the topics to discuss. Again, let's try and finalize the agenda by 10/22.
Thanks,
Olga

Hi Guys,
I have not gotten any response to this post so let me ask a more basic questions: are people interested in having the meeting in early November or is it better if we skip it this time and schedule something for Jan once all the vacations are over.
Thanks,
Olga

I am OK with Nov 4. I think postponing it till after vacations will be too long. So, unless others think otherwise I hope we can have a contributor meet before vacations.

Nov 4 works for me. As far as agenda, I think discussing the roadmap and the "turing complete" proposal would be good. Rather than a presentation, maybe we can make it more of a round table?

Hi Jeff,
You don't need to do anything to attend :). If you would like to present, that's great, if not - no problem. If there are topics you want to discuss, please, send them to the list.

Hi Olgan,
It's great, I'd like to attend this meeting. My skype account is "zjffdu". And I am concerned about the concurrent calling of PigServer on client side (Pig-240). Because submitting pig script one by one won't take advantage of the full resources of hadoop cluster. And I'd like to hear other user/dev 's voice one this issue. So far I have the following people signed up from outside of Yahoo:
Richa Khandelwal Carl Steinbach Dmitriy Ryaboy Jeff Zhang (via skype)
If you are planning to attend but your name is not on the list, please, let me know.
Here are the proposed discussion items:
* Turing Complete * Future work * PigServer usage
Please, let me know if anything is missing. As Dmitriy suggested, we are going to keep the discussions informal rather than having power point presentations.
Olga
