Hi Pavan,

How mane namenodes do you have? Are you running HA and that's why you have
more than 1 namenode?

Also, yes, if you don't have DNS, you need to have hosts file configured.

First try to ping from one server to the other one using the name only, if
it works, they you don't need to update the hosts file.
