Prepare for Pig 0.8.1 releaseDaniel Dai 2011-03-18, 03:32
Hi, Pig developer
Since Pig 0.8.0 release, we have fixed quite a few bugs. Now it is a good time to plan another Pig 0.8 release. We hope to push the release in one to two weeks. We still have a couple of bugs planning to fix (PIG-1892, maybe PIG-1912, PIG-1895, PIG-1814, PIG-1826) before release. Besides that, does anybody has some patches wants to get in? Thanks Daniel

So happy to hear we are on the same page with this! I was about to suggest
that we cut 0.8.1 soon, as well. I haven't opened a Jira, but the HBaseStorage release notes for 0.8 didn't make it into the documentation -- we should add that to the release. I'd really like to get PIG-1870 fixed, it could cause serious issues for people. I have very little time for it right now myself, unfortunately. The PigStorageSchema patch is ready to go, I'll commit it later tonight to both trunk and 0.8 D On Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 8:32 PM, Daniel Dai <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi, Pig developer > Since Pig 0.8.0 release, we have fixed quite a few bugs. I'd like to add PIG-1923
I've fixed it in trunk, it should not be too hard to port it to the 0.8 branch. I think we should minimize changes to the 0.8 branch to only be P1 bugs meaning failures without workaround that users are likely to encounter or silent failures. So we should add this one if it does meet the criteria. Otherwise it should be part of 0.9.

PIG-1782 isn't a P1, but I'd like to see it committed soon if
possible. We've been testing it quite a bit and it's been working well. What's the status of PIG-1782, PIG-1923, PIG-1870? Are we going to get

Re: Prepare for Pig 0.8.1 releaseJulien Le Dem 2011-04-04, 23:15
I thought only critical bugs would go in.
PIG-1923 is ready from my point of view but I got stuck at running the pig unit test as some of them fail on my machine for no apparent reason (independently of my changes). If someone with a working workspace wants to check it in that would be great. Julien On 4/4/11 4:09 PM, "Jianyong Dai" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: What's the status of PIG-1782, PIG-1923, PIG-1870? 1782 is not a candidate for 8.1 (though I have a slightly modified patch
with which I think we are closer to committing this to 0.9) I didn't get a chance to work on 1870 as I intended this weekend, will take a crack at it tonight. I think we should have PIG-1911 and PIG-1963 (accumulator mode bugs) also in 0.8.1 .
I should be able to have them in this week. Thanks, Thejas On 3/17/11 8:32 PM, "Daniel Dai" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi, Pig developer Since Pig 0.8.0 release, we have fixed quite a few bugs.
