hive (verb) means to store or lay away for future use

i am not sure this is correct answer but could not come up with anything
better

I wasn't involved in naming it, but I would guess that it has to do
with the metaphor of bees as distributed workers gathering
data/pollen, storing it in their hive, and making it useful.

There was is something else called databee at the time. So seems like
he worker bee theme.
